For a neyzen, one of the most important things is getting a strong sound. In other words, blowing a constant sound should be your first aim.
High Sounds:
Now, let us take a closer look at these sounds.
High Si:
This is your ney holding position. This sound is got by using three fingers and blowing strongly. For the right sound, please listen to the video below carefully:
High Do:
This sound is got by using three fingers and blowing strongly.
High #Do:
The position of fingers is shown above.
High Re:For this sound, all holes should be open except “aşiran perdesi”. However, you may use your midlle fingers to play the sound easier. Don’t worry! It doesn’t have any negative effect on the sound.
These sounds are quite high and relatively easier than the lower sounds. In my opinion, studying the lower sounds is more important than the higher ones. But, of course, you should memorize the holding positions and the names of the high sounds.
The sounds of Sol: Sol, Re, High Sol.
The sounds of La: La, Mi, High La
The sounds of Si?: Si?, Fa, High Si?
The sounds of Do: Do, Sol, High Do
The sounds of #Do: #Do, #Sol, High #Do
The sounds of Re: Re, High La, High Re
As I mentioned before, you can get these sounds by blowing strongly.
